So, this is my very first tamil kavidhai. A friend from Instagram is running a page that hosted a contest for thamizh kavidhais (poem? Short poetic note? Something like that). I never attempted one in my life, yet wanted to support this page and contest. So gave it a try. I couldn’t think in thamizh in a poetic way. But I knew what i wanted to convey. Wrote it down in english, then normal colloquial thamizh. Finally unlocked my capability to give it a poetic touch. I was so proud of myself after writing my first one in 27 years and it sounded perfect and convincing. I myself couldn’t believe i was able to get those unusual words and articulate them well. Added a relevant background (not the one in this pic) and submitted it for the contest. For the next 4 or 5 days, i kept checking this pic and felt great about my first try. After nearly a month, my friend texted on insta saying i have got the first place based on judgement by a thamizh pandit. I was like.. Huh? Really? I was laughing inside… My first one getting recognized.. That felt great and gave me some really good motivation to attempt more. And i did ☺️. Will be sharing them too…

So, for those looking for a translation…

Amongst the bridled horses that take their journey towards a target or destination, a bird’s destination is the journey itself. Keep calm and enjoy the path (than being focused on the goal or destination ).

This could be applied to everything in life. Whatever the goal is, it’s the experiences through the journey in achieving it, that matters. Experiencing and experimenting should be the goal and not the result. ☺️
